Disparate and Multifarious

I refuse to be politically correct about pigs! Pig farmers are upset about the new virus being called the swine flu. Now we're supposed to call it the H1N1 virus instead of swine flu. Yeah, that'll happen.

Have your eyebrow hairs started to get creepily long? Mine have. If I don't keep them under control, I'll be Andy Rooney's younger sister.

See these?

It means my house & yard will smell like lilacs soon! *swoon*

They run the length of my fence line!

Are coconuts a fruit?

I've woken up at 2:40 every day this week except for one. I can't get back to sleep after. When it's 7:45 & you've already been up for 5 hours it makes for a really looooong and goofy day!

3 New Awards!

Somehow I have not been posting awards that my lovely blogging friends have been giving to me. I swear I had a nice post about them, but poof it's gone. I may dig them out over the next month or so, so that I can hand out some bloggy love!

I've gotten 3 nice awards lately.

From Denise at

Here's what it says:

List 7 things that make you Awe-Summ and then pass the award on to 7 bloggers you love.Make sure to tag your recipients and let them know they have won! Also link back to the Queen that tagged you.You can copy the picture of the award and put it on your sideboard letting the whole world know.....YOU are The Queen of Alll Things Awe-Summm!

I love this from Carey at

Last but totally not least is the Let's Be Friends Award, from Brittany at
Food For Thought. She is one of my new bloggy friends & I really appreciate her reaching out with this sweet award.

"The Let's be Friends" award stands for this: These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind of bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers."

So this one's for

April at April Showers

Jessica at Pudget

Carey at Life in the Carpool Lane

Deb at Sweet Tea

Mrs. M at I've Changed My Name To Mommy

Musical Monday

As a teen from the 80's there are about a million classics that spring to mind. I chose Tempted by Squeeze from the movie Reality Bites. There's tons of great songs on that soundtrack.

The real video is here but embedding is disabled, so here's one without the video.

Things That Made Me LOL

The tagline is "So many legs, so little time."

Um, what happens if something goes wrong?

This morning I went to Bed, Bath & Beyond, which happened to be next to a Michael's, so I obviously had to go there, too!

At BB&B I bought this

Let's pray it looks good in my bathroom.

Anyway, at Michaels I found this ribbon in some dried mud in the parking lot.

At first I heard in my head the voices of my mom, my husband, etc. "Don't pick that up, it's filthy!" But I did pick it up brought it home, washed it in the sink & now I have this for a nice fall arrangement or project. It's really pretty.

That got me thinking about a couple of other things I do. You may already do them, but maybe not.

The plastic packaging with a zipper from my shower curtain will be saved for something like this.

Holiday placemats & table runners.

The big ones from comforters and such are used for seasonal quilts.

Lastly, I use the light weight paper bags for wrapping paper.

(That is my first attempt at stamping & coloring it in. Not bad, huh?)

Besides regular recycling, what do you do to repurpose everyday items?

I Need A Loan To Pay Off My Loan For My Loan

Today I heard a commercial for a "payday advance consolidation loan". In other words, if you have more than 2 outstanding payday advance's you can now get a loan to pay those off.

Is adding a loan on top of a loan really what any of us needs right now??

Random Images

Self portrait

I made a fire last night in the rain. Hubby didn't think I'd get it going, but I did. Since it was raining I didn't sit out by it, but opened the window next to my computer so I could smell it. The sound of rain & smell of campfire was perfect!

I have super fun Wellies. They even have a matching case. These are just so "me" I had to buy them last year. Since it's raining, I'm going to wear them out today.

*I warned you it was random!

Musical Monday

This weeks theme is "Reminds Me Of High School". There are a lot that came to mind, but this is the one that really stood out for me.

The song that way played at my first high school dance with my first real boyfriend. That first love that people call puppy love, but seems like everything at the time.

Sheriff, When I'm With You

Trivia, the last note in this song still holds the record for the longest note held in a #1 hit.

I Am Loved

A note Chris left for me one morning. I was having a bad day, so he got it out again & put it on my computer table.

That's Oskar, me, Chris, Jack, John, Chloe, & Moe.

My husband rocks!

Blogger Users HELP!

About 99% of the time when I try to create a link to something Blogger changes the info inside of the code. For instance,

[a href="validwebaddress"]text[/a] (I used [ ] instead of < >)

Blogger puts some random crap in where the web address is supposed to be. Sometimes it just adds extra crap & sometimes it replaces what I have typed.

Does anyone else have this problem with Blogger? Do you know how to fix it? Help!

My Wedding Invitation

I've mentioned my wedding inviation in the past & a couple of people have asked to see it, so here it is.

I made them with scrapbooking paper & printed the words onto vellum paper. The little flowers at the corners were all yellow, but I wanted them to pop a little more, so I colored the middles orange.

This is why I don't scrapbook. I know I would be good at it, but I would be obsessive & never do anything else. I have a certain friend *cough*Jeannie*cough* who may have this problem with stamping cards ;-D

And The Winner Is...

The winner of the Ecostore USA $25.00 gift certificate is.

Karen! I sent her an e-mail last night. Karen's a Kiwi, who won products made originally in New Zealand!

For everyone else Melissa from Ecostore USA wanted me to let you all know that during the month of April there is free shipping on orders of just $25.00 or more.

Congratulations to Karen, and thank you all for playing.

Post A Picture Of Myself

Here are the rules: Take a picture of yourself right now. No primping or preparing. Just snap a picture & load it onto your blog.

Eek, I look mad, but I'm just trying to think of the right face to make to not look stupid (fail). You can see Mr. Oskar wanting to play ball behind me.

There's also a prom tag, but I never went to a prom *sob* & I can't find any of my rad homecoming pics. You're missing puffy sleeves, drop waist & big hair.

Now I'm going to be lame, but I like everyone to play. If you've got time do one or all of these tags & let me know so I can check out your answers & spurr of the moment pic. Hopefully I can see your prom embarassment, too!

You MUST click the link below. I can't imbed it, but I promise goosebumps at a minimum, tears likely.

Such a beautiful voice from a woman who they had already written off. You can see Simon's charm come out as he watches her. I can't wait to see her become a star.

Today's lesson: It's never too late to follow our dreams!

Heads Will Roll

Do you see that little candy? (The one I oh so cleverly made to look like my mousepad kitty is reaching for.)

What do you think when you see that candy? If you're like me you probably think, "oh look a nice refreshing peppermint candy so my breath doesn't smell like Taco Bell."

Well you would be WRONG!

It's a cinnmon candy!! Some evil soul has made narsty cinnamon candies to look just like the beloved peppermint candy (OK, beloved may be pushing it, but I'm on a rant here, so go with me).

I don't like cinnamon candies. Now I have to go find something to wash the cinnamon flavor out of my mouth. When I find out who is responsible for this you'd better watch out!

Musical Monday

Well this weeks theme is "Songs I'm Embarassed To Admit That I Love". Well this one was hard for me, casue I love all kinds of music, and I'm not really embarassed by them. The best I could come up with is Air Supply.

I wanted to post "I'm All Out of Love", but the embedding is disabled, so here's "You're Every Woman In The World To Me".

Check out Diane, or Jori for more fun.
