She's Doing Well
My mother in law had surgery on her hip this morning & it went well. She only broke that ball at the end of her femur, so it was less severe than it could have been. She should be home on Monday.
All of your prayers and well wishes are much appreciated, thank you!

Prayers & Good Wishes Please
My mother-in-law fell and broke her hip today. She went to her mailbox, fell and laid there for over an hour before someone found her. We are waiting for an orthopedist to decide when to do surgery. All of your prayers and good wishes are welcomed.

Wonderful Treasure From Italy
I've been friends with Jeannie from Jeannie's Happy World for years. After years of living in Georgia while her husband was stationed there and was in Iraq (Army), she finally got her dream of him being stationed in Italy.
She sent me an amazing Christmas package and let me open it early while I was talking to her on the phone. The outside was all decorated and Oskar knew it smelled good!
This first baggie is full of candies and confections. Notice how beautifully all of the baggies are decorated. Jeannie is an amazing card maker & made everything look perfect.
These are Italian truffles. My husband was begging me to share these each time I bit into one!
She went to the factory to get these samples of extra virgin olive oil, lemon juice and balsamic vinegar.
Jeannie stamped the designs on these tea lights & they're wrapped in ribbon. Everything is just so perfect!
These are minestrone beans that I made up with some smoked sausage, it was so good!
Look at how beautiful these beans are!
Jeannie knows that I like pea soup so she sent me this one. It was really fresh & light, perfect for a day I was having tummy trouble. I had to use Google Traslator to figure out how to make it, lol.
Here's all of my delicious booty, all made in the region where she lives. Right by Venice...I'm so jealous I can't see straight, but so happy that she finally got to go to Italy.
Stop by Jeannie's Happy World and give her some love.
She's former Air Force, her husband is in the Army, her oldest daughter just finished Air Force basic training, her son-in-law is in the Army & her son is getting ready to graduate high school and go into the service this year. They are a family working hard to protect our country & I'm so proud that she's my friend. Especially when she's sending so many yummy goodies my way ;-)

My Kindle Review
I have always been a huge reader. There were a few months last year where for whatever reason I was unable to focus on reading, but after getting the Kindle for Christmas I was able to get back to it and it feels great!
I wanted the Kindle SOOO badly, but there are a few things I had wish I'd known before I got one. It wouldn't have stopped me from getting it, but it would have saved me a little disappointment.
First and most disappointing to me is the lack of a backlight. What electronic device these days doesn't have a light? Especially one designed for portable reading! You can buy lights for them, but this is a major bummer for someone who likes to read in bed.
The second problem I have is the fact that it comes with no case, not even a cheap vinyl one. You can buy them separately and I feel like you really need one to protect the screen when carrying it in a purse or even just leaving it laying around.
It takes a while to figure out how to find something that you were looking for earlier in the book. With a real book if you need to go back to re-read something you just flip through the pages, and it's a little more tricky to do with a Kindle.
With all of that being said, I still love it. You can have the text shown on the screen in portrait or landscape mode, the screen savers are interesting and pretty, like this one.
You can see that the background is white with black text to reduce glare and it is really easy on the eyes.
I'm still learning to navigate it, and haven't spent as much time using as I would like, since I have several books checked out from the libaray that I've been waiting for and I want to read those before they have to be returned.
I'll never stop getting real books, because I love reading in the bath tub & I'm WAY too clumsy to take this into the tub, but it's a great addition that I think that any reader would love.

Creepy & Weird
It is my opinion that Wally Edgar Chevrolet needs a new advertising team.

Project 365 ~ Week 1
This is my first year of participating in Project 365 with my awesome bloggy friend Sara from Make Music From You Heart To The Lord.
This is what Sara says about Project 365:
I am attempting to take one photograph each day of this next year. My hope is to be able to slow down and see the small things, become a better photographer and to be reminded of the many blessings God sends my way!
So this is my year to do this & I'm thrilled. I bought myself a new point & shoot camera that I love and I can't wait to see what pictures this year brings.

Oskar contemplating the New Year
Sausage egg casserole for breakfast. I was so proud after I made it & then no one wanted any when they woke up! See if I make them a delicious breakie again any time soon!
My brain...I hope to take power over it in 2011.
Cozy Chloe.
Chris has been sick for over a week.
Our snow is gone. I hope it doesn't come back anytime soon!
My 2011 calender, full to the brim with possibilities!
There it is, my first week of Project 365!

Still Looking Forward, But In A New Way
I just realized that I spend all of my time looking forward. Despite that fact, I never make or have goals for myself. They way I look forward is with anxiety, worrying about what might happen 5 minutes from now or 5 years from now.
This leaves me in a reactionary position when life throws me one of it's curveballs. I don't enjoy the moment or plan to succeed in any future way, I just hope for things not to go horribly wrong.
Wasting time much, Mimi?
I've never been an optimist and don't come from a family that contains optimism, as a rule, so I'm going to try making baby steps towards changing my thinking, planning to succeed, and trying to enjoy the moment.
I don't consider this a resolution, I always fail at those, just a goal for the future.
May 2011 be your best year ever, friends!
