Well my Best Buy Geek Squad guy got my computer back to me without having to send it away, but he called it a "temporary reprieve", meaning at some point my baby's going to have to go to the hospital without me. For possibly up to a month. I'm afraid that I didn't realize my full addiction to reading blogs until this happened. The first step is recognizing that you have a problem, but I have no intention of seeking help for this particular malady.
Now I need your opinions on another subject. I live across from what we call the meadow. It's a large piece of property about 2 blocks long that has no houses, just grass & trees. Some wonderful family has gotten their 4 small children a dirt bike. These children ride this dirt bike non-stop. On Saturday they took turns riding it for over 12 hours. Here's a some video I took.
Besides being annoying, having these kids riding this dirt bike is illegal. Having them do it for hours on end is unbearable. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be the un-cool neighbor & call the police. They're breaking the law, destroying the grass in the meadow & loosening my already shaky grasp on sanity!
What you you do?

oh, call police, no questions asked. i would absolutely go NUTTY! not only is it disturbing but they ARE ruining that grass out there. they need to find somewhere else to ride. how long has this been going on? does no one else notice this? ugghhh
Mimi,
You got to do, what you got do!
You said it "IT's ILLEGAL" so actually you are making them a favor. Do it! call the cops. It's for their own safety because I am pretty sure one day you are going to go crazy and get that gun of your and start shooting...j/k ...lol and I do not want to imagen that!!! {wink}
I hope to hear good new soon about this matter :)

o.m.g. you're back!! i've missed you!!
re: the neighbors, i'd call the police. they need to take the kids somewhere else to ride that thing.
how have you been?
I think you need your computer back and not worry about such matters. Those kids could be doing a lot worse things. Life moves too fast. Grass grows back. Those kids will never get a chance at childhood again. I
vote for just leave it alone.
I think I would be annoyed also do what you have to do to keep your sanity.
glad to hear everything is working again. i understand how frustrating it is to be sans computer.
Girl you are busting me up. I just laughed out loud when you said "I hate them" That is too funny. That is exactly how I feel about my Fred Sanford neighbor. Seriously, does he think it is a treasure to view each morning?
Atleast he is not noisy. LOL
Do what you gotta do...
Call the cops. We'd do it in a heartbeat. Also, find out who owns the property and let them know.
I would call the cops...I could only take so much!
If I knew the parents first, I'd approach it with them first (armed with the exact statue/law prohibiting the activity). I would make it clear that you have no choice but to involve the police if the activity continues. And then if it continues, report it!
i am so addicted to blogging, and i have no interest in recovering either!
i wonder what would happen if you aimed a rifle at these kids?
First off, sorry about your computer. I've had to part with mine for weeks at a time when it broke down (no one buy a Gateway laptop) and it sucks.
Secondly, I would totally call the police. I am a total confrontation-scared wuss, so I would probably not talk to the parents first. But what is happening is dangerous. Plus there is a reason they're called 'dirt bikes' and not 'ride on a meadow bikes'. Because they will rip it up. Plus it's not their property. How irritating.
Call the cops! Then you can act all surprised like everyone else when they show up. It'll be fun! And, hope you were serious about the karaoke thing at SITScation 'cause I love watching drunk people sing karaoke. You will be drunk, right?
Call the cops, but then don't be surprised if they don't want to do anything about it-although they certainly should.
Here in Pennsylvania it is illegal to drive them or atvs on roadways unless they are designated as roads open for that purpose. I have had them repeatedly drive through where I am trying to photograph deer and tried to get a legal remedy. It all depends on the officer and his outlook on the problem, although since this sounds like an suburban area, perhaps your officers will be less forgiving of them causing a disturbance and at least make them stop doing it.
I have a meme for you Mimi lol
Oh yeah, report it.
I know - run out at them screaming and brandishing a frying pan in one hand and a broom in the other until they leave or fall off their bikes. Or go smack the irresponsible parents who aren't watching their kids or teaching them how to be good citizens and courteous neighbors. Oh come on, go pop 'em one, you know you want to.
Yep. Holler at and smack both.
Odd behaviour and a bit of violence can sometimes really help your sanity;-) Great stress reliever, lol.
Just a thought...
What a great post. Stopping by from SITS to leave some bloggy love!
I come from a family that loves to race. I cannot wait to go to the big National race in August BUT there is a time and place for everything.
Try approaching the family nicely then do what you have to do from there.
Oh no. I love my peace and suburbian qiuet. That would never do. Sorry you and your sanity have had to endure that.

I would go and talk to the people first and tell them how you feel. If they are rude about it then maybe call the police.
I am big on being 'law abiding'... so I would ABSOLUTELY call the police. (and dont you dare feel guilty about that for one second!) the parents are obviously unconcerned so don't rely on them to realize the problem its causing...
I would also, (this is just me cause I am a bit bold) let the parents know that its illegal and that I WILL be calling the police if it doesn't stop.
ANd keep that video for evidence!;)
Good luck!
God bless-
Amanda
If they are doing this in the meadow, they will likely take it other places too. Better to nip this in the bud. Call the police.
That would drive me totally nuts. I would definitely call the police.
