One World One Heart 2011

Photobucket

Hello my name is Mimi and I'm participating in a the final year of the wonderful One World One Heart event hosted by the magical Lisa Swifka.

To tell you about me would be to tell you about my husband, my two teenage sons, my sassy dog Oskar, and my life with bi-polar disorder and a stomach condition called gastroparesis.  Armed with Diet Pepsi & Xanax, I hope to take over the world if I can work out my social anxiety disorder!

Lisa brings bloggers together from around the world, with gestures of giving, and comments of kindess.

This year I'm giving away some lovely pieces of jewelery.  These are ones that I have worn and loved, but have grown apart from and would like to share with you.

This first set is a necklace and bracelet made of bluish-multicolored beads.

My second prize is a sunflower Scrabble tile with a matching tin.

I did not create any of these pieces of jewelery, but would like to pass them on to a new friends.

I will use the random number generator to choose the winners on February 17th.

To enter is simple.  The only requirement is that you must be a blogger.

Leave me a comment with your name and anything about yourself that you'd like to share with me!  I'd love to come and visit you back.  Do be sure to leave your e-mail address in your comment to ensure that I can reach you if you're one of my winners.  This contest is open internationally.

Good luck and enjoy One World One Heart!

Project 365 Week 5

Project 365 button designed by http://richgift.blogspot.com

My week captured thru my camera, un-filtered & un-retouched.

Sunday, January 23 ~ Saturday, January 29, 2011

This was my Wordless Wednesday post.  Sad to realize that I was feeling no joy.  It's getting better, I'm glad to report.

Sunday
The reason I should never polish my nails!  Once it starts wearing off, I'm too lazy to take it off & then it looks tacky.

Monday
Oskar & Chloe sharing the space heater.

Tuesday
My drawer full of drugs I've tried for my gastroparesis and bi-polar.  Some good, some bad, but none just right yet.

Wednesday
A wonderful sample pack from Newman's Own Organics pet food products.  I've been researching higher quality foods to feed him and have been working with a lot of great companies and due to my pet blogging we've received many great brands to try out & report back on.

Thursday
Ooh, I got hit with a case of the sick on Friday night.  I spent most of my time here, moaning & whining!

Friday
Chris looking goofy while grilling us up a nice batch of chicken.  I love that he makes such wonderful food for me, he's a fantastic cook!
Saturday
I love this project & it's not to late to join Sara for Project 365!

I Smiled Today

Friends, you know my blog is all about honesty, which can be an emotional rollercoaster since I live with bi-polar disorder.
My medications were changed last week and it was a disaster, yesterday I changed back to Cymbalta and hope to go back to being my normal, only semi-crazy self.

Today for the first time in a week I found myself engaging with people and spontaneously smiling & it felt great.  I was able to recognize the moment and hold on to it.  Then I heard the song '100 Years' by Five For Fighting and it really made me stop.  The lyrics at one point say "I'm 45 for a moment, the sea is high and I'm heading into a crisis, chasing the years of my life."  Bazinga, that one spoke to me!

Really just a moment I have to enjoy life before that time is gone.  So today I'm going to ignore the snow and hold onto the moment of my smile.  Maybe I'll even have another one on the way.

*I will post the winners of my Stride Panties giveaway a little later in the day.

Project 365 ~ Week 4

Project 365 button designed by http://richgift.blogspot.com

My week captured thru my camera, un-filtered & un-retouched.

Sunday, January 16 ~ Saturday, January 22, 2011

On Sunday Chris decided to get out the Weber and make some chicken wings in the snow.  I was visually pleased by the assortment of Buffalo Wild Wings sauces we have amassed.  As any blogger mom knows my family moaned while they waited to eat and I had to line up the sauces for my 365 photo!

Sunday
My son Jack.  He insisted that I take this picture and dared me to post it.  Here you go Jack, lol!

Monday
Oskar enjoys the re-hydrated food he's sampling from The Honest Kitchen.  It's used as a "topper" or suplement to his regular food.  (I added pieces of chicken to the plate also)

Tuesday
Cookie dough.  Cooking it is overrated.

Wednesday

Proof that there is some level of organization happening here!

Thursday
11 degree weather & warm Diet Pepsi makes for a fun Oskar fountain.

Friday
Chris made us this pizza from scratch, damn it was good!

Saturday
I love this project & it's not to late to join Sara for Project 365!

*While you're here don't forget to enter my Stride Panties giveaway, 2 winners, open worldwide!

SOOC Saturday

No errands to run, not places to be, so today is jammie day for me here in cold Michigan!

I just hope that the poor UPS guy doesn't come to the door!

Stride Panties Review & Giveaway

Stride Panties
Sometimes when you laugh do you pee your pants a little?

If the answer to that question is no, then skip down a post and read about cheese. Otherwise ladies, let’s talk about how much it annoys us to sprinkle a little tinkle when we sneeze, or laugh, or cough, or yell, or whenever!

I recently had the opportunity to try Stride Panties and they rock!

They are stretchy, silky and a little spandexy, with seams only at the sides that are re-inforced at the top & bottom, but these underwear feel seamless to me.

Here you can see the liner & the underside of the liner that really keeps you protected.  This pair of panties has been worn and washed and I'm happy to report that they hold up well after washing.
The technology of these panties wicks away the moisture, absorbs it & deodorizes to keep you feeling fresh.  I chose the light absorbency and that's just right for me, but they have several absorbancy levels to suit your individual need.

I'm going to be really honest here and tell you that with my gastroparesis I throw up a lot!  This can cause leakage and these Stride Panties have been a lifesaver for me.

I also want to stress how comfortable these are.  I cannot wear clothes that are not comfortable.  If you show up to my house I will be in yoga pants & a sweatshirt.  Stride Panties were comfortable all day long and did not in any way feel like I was wearing a "diaper".

My only hesitation with these is the size.  I chose the XL panties & I'm a size 14.  I would have liked a wee bit more cheek coverage.  I wish that Stride would offer larger sizes to accommodate more women who are real sizes.

As a special offer for Screaming Mimi readers you can buy them with a 30% discount on orders over $35 with promo code STRIDE818.  This offer expires Feb 28th, 2011.

The even more exciting news is that two Screaming Mimi readers can win a pair of Stride Panties of their choice.  (Open worldwide)

Project 365 ~ Week 3

Project 365 button designed by http://richgift.blogspot.com

Here's my week in pictures:

Sunday, January 9 ~ Saturday, January 15, 2011

Time for my beloved Christmas quilt to be packed away.  While part of me wants to use it all the time, another part likes that it's something to look forward to.

Sunday
Oskar re-arranged the garbage for me!

Monday
My mom-van ran out of gas in my neighborhood.  Guess who didn't have their cell phone & had to trudge through the snow for a gas can!

Tuesday
A meeting with my Dr. to deal with my bi-polar & gastroparesis.  We're adjusting my meds a bit so I've been a little tweaky this week.  I'm hoping it will settle down by next week & so is my family, lol!

Wednesday
Here is a typical serving size when I eat.  This was some turkey (about 2 oz.) and trimmings.  I try to eat 3 times a day, but it doesn't always work out that way.

Thursday
My Hope corner.  It's right next to my computer for a smile and some hope anytime I need it.

Friday
Oskar is unhappy with the Christmas quilt being gone, but you can see he's making due with the snowman quilt!

Sunday
It's not too late to join Project 365.  I was nervous to join because my photo skills are rudimentary and my life isn't very exciting, lol!  I can tell you that everyone involved is really welcoming and nice.  Go see Sara to check out the rest of the Project 365 participants.

Thoughts on Thinking Clearly! or My New Horoscope

OK, so a group of bored people got together and decided that the horoscopes needed to be changed.  Who does that?

It's not like a group of people can just get together and decide that we now have one less planet or anything, right?  OK, never mind that one.

With the new horoscope system I am supposedly changing from a Cancer to a Gemini.  Here's what it says:

Cancer: June 22-July 22
Your previous qualities: the tenacity with which they protect their loved ones.

This is VERY true of me, always has been & always will be.

My new sign says this:
Gemini: June 21-July 20

Your new qualities: the ability to communicate effectively and think clearly.

Bwahahahah, A ha ha ha, that's a good one.  Me, bipolar, anxiety suffering me, thinking clearly.  I think that I'll stay as a Cancer thank you.  I can't think clearly enough to remember my new sign.
