Oatmeal Bread

My husband has had the bread machine out lately & last night I made some delicious oatmeal bread.  I didn't have bread flour, so mine didn't rise as much as the one in the picture, but it tastes delicious.  The little bit of brown sugar makes it just a touch sweet.  It's great toasted with a smear of Nutella in the morning!

Source
Oatmeal Bread - 1.5 lb. loaf

1 cup quick-cooking oats
2/3 cup milk
1/3 cup water
1 tablespoon margarine or butter
2.5 cups bread flour
3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon active dry yeast or bread machine yeast

Spread the oats in a shallow baking pan.  Bake in 350 degree oven for 15 to 20 minutes, until lightly brown, stirring occasionally.

Add oats and remaining ingredients to the machine according to manufacturer's directions.  If available select the whole grain cycle.

If you try this let me know what you think!

I would definitely like this! I love just about anything "bread". But, alas, I don't own a bread machine. Guess it's time I got one! Hope you have a great day! :)

I've never heard of oatmeal bread. It sounds delicious!

That sounds scrumptious! One of my weaknesses is warm bread slathered with butter. Not carb friendly, but delicious!

How would I do this for a traditional oven?
