And He's Off

I am currently sitting here sobbing as I type. My JD got his real license today & just left, ON HIS OWN, to go & visit some of his friends.

I know it's in God's hands, but I am so petrified. I cannot explain to you the feeling of having him pull out of the driveway, on his own, for the first time.

He's a good driver. This just puts a finer point on the fact that he's moving farther away from me every day.

Just say a little prayer that he will make it home safely & that I won't have a full blown break down in the meantime!

it's going to be ok. breathe!

him turning into a responsible adult (who's a good driver!) just means you did your job well!

Oh honey I hear you! Guess what I did today for the first time? Drove in the passenger side while my son drove to his driver's training class! He did really well, though. I tried really hard not to look spazzed out. I think I did pretty well holding it in.

(((hugs)))

Girl,

I do not envy you one bit..I would be having a break down too. I still got a few years to go...I will be praying for you. Let me know that he makes it home safely.

The worries never stop, do they? Your son sounds like a great kid - lucky you. Hang in there. My son wants to get his license this spring - I may be sobbing too.

I'm coming over from Blog Stalkers Unite, asking for your help. I am in the running for a round trip airfare paid ticket to Connecticut, to meet a friend I became acquainted with through blogging. She is a super fun person and is holding this contest. I entered a funny story titled "Grapejuice Floaties, Now Marry Me." The person whose story receives the most votes will win a trip to meet this generous lady, whom I'm hoping to meet. The voting ends tonight I believe. I am ahead for now but there is a story coming up from behind out of nowhere and I would so, so, appreciate your help. Her blog is www.becausemomsaidso.blogspopt.com and the voting is on the sidebar on the right. "Grapejuice, Floaties" Just go there and cast a vote for me, please. Thanks so much-you're awesome! ♥

Hugs honey!!!! You know I know.....and it's so hard! You know he will be fine, so try not to worry.

Kids pull away and it hurts, but then something wonderful happens. They get all out on their own, and realize they DON'T know everything!!!! And guess who they call? That's right - Mom!! =)

Oh! One more thing...are you doing the Card thing??? Is it too late to sign up??? I have the button but haven't heard back yet...

Aww Momma it's gonna be okay. You are so proud of him! You wouldn't be worried if you weren't! And if you ask me, there is nothing wrong with worrying. It keeps us on our toes. I bet he's super excited though!

Oh my! I remember how scared my Mom was when I started driving, and I definitely don't look forward to that day with my son.

I can totally relate....I'm an over-protective mom to 3 sons. When the 1st one started driving I cried and worried all of the time. When the 2nd started, more hair turned grey. The youngest gets his license in 2 days.(UGH!) Even with the oldest being 20 - he has to call me when he's driving long distances and makes it to the destination, just so I can sleep at night. Same with the 19 year old. I'm sure the 16 year old has a good idea of what to expect though! Hang in there.....it's all part of growing up.

Oh honey, I feel ya. OK not really - I mean, kind of but not on the same level cause my kids are so young. But when they do new things WITHOUT me, it's always bittersweet.

Stopping by from SITS.
Ohh I dread that day. I hope I can teach my kids the importance of being safe drivers and that they will get it. I have been reading your blog and I am sure that your son is fully prepared for the responsibility.
