Billy Ray Cyrus, Wake Up!!!

**Rant**

I told a friend I would do a post about ATC's today, but it will have to wait. Let me begin by saying how greatful I am that I do not have a pre-teen daughter right now.

So Miley Cyrus does a number at the Kids Choice Awards that involved her dancing on a stripper pole. The child is 16 year old!! Her target audience is 9-12 year olds! I'm not sure that there are enough exclaimation point in my computer to express how I feel, because it only gets better.

Miley's little sister Noah, who is 9, was also videotaped, at a bar, at some party for kids and adults, dancing on stripper poles with her friends. As if that's not quite creep enough grown men are standing around watching them *sigh* I will say that really all Noah & her friends do is spin around the pole, but during the entire video you can see her looking around to alway make sure people are watching her. A 9 year old shouldn't have any idea what a stripper pole is, much less be on stage playing on one while grown men watch. This is some pedo-bears dream!

I'm not posting the videos. You can find them here on D-Listed if you're interested.

**Rant over**

Ok, that is just wrong...so wrong. The sexualization of young girls in our culture is so disturbing! I want to pitch a fit every time I walk through the doll aisle and see all the Bratz. Ugh.

Great minds think alike. Come over and see my post today. ;o)

p.s. I love that you linked to dListed. LOL

I can't believe that! We have to be very careful what we let our children see, and we almost can't let them watch anything anymore! I can't believe these young singers/actors parents would agree to things like this. All they are seeing is $$$!

Sigh, I dislike her more and more by the minute.

Yeah I saw that and said, Really on a show for children and guess her photo shot really was not that bad after all. How crazy.

I am so glad that my girls are not old enough to even know who Miley Cyrus is. I censor my girl's TV very strictly - but I worry when I won't be able to do it much longer!

Tell me about it. we watched it for a brief while. For goodness sake...Britney is her role model. Yikes. Also her outfit was just wAAAAAAAy to grown up. Hello! This is someone my girls like. Yeah right. Not anymore my little friends. Hope Disney is watching her...Billy Ray better clear the dollar signs out of his eyes and see what is going on right in front of him. Yikes.

What the heck? What happens to these girls when they get their fame? I don't care if they want the responsibility of being a role model or not. They are role models and they need to act in age appropriate, responsible ways.

That is just pure icky. Your rant is justified.

Yeah, I am REALLY disappointed in that whole deal. We didn't see it, and my daughter (who is a BIG Miley fan) is going to be seeing less of Miss Cyrus, I can PROMISE you that.

Bad move, girlie.

Ugh! That is just so beyond sick. It would seem that there is just NO LIMIT on what some parents will allow while pimping their kids out to make a buck.

I will be so careful with The Bella, should she actually become famous someday, lol! Seriously though, no dollar amount is worth her precious innocence.

So ATCs tomorrow then??? :-)

I saw a bit about this on the news and just couldn't believe it. Really, why do public role models for young girls have to go that route?

While I wouldn't call what Miley did dancing on a stripper pole, I don't think it's appropriate for an underage girl to gyrate her hips in public, esp. in short shorts (really, in private either!). While I'm sure Miley feels grown up (and in many ways is more mature than the average girl her age), she still isn't emotionally mature enough to be making those kinds of decisions.

Thanks for stopping by my blog...Willie was named because he is a ginger kitty and when we got him he really looked like Willie Nelson :)
I caught a glimpse of the little Ms. Cyrus and just shook my head. So many young girls look up to her...then again look at some of the clothes that are made for little girls I am so happy mine is grown. (())

This from the Disney Channel, which brought us the wholesome likes of Boy Meets World and, even, Lizzie McGuire ... as compared to the wotgoo smeared across the screen these days.

So sad. Where are the parental edit buttons? I have three girls, 9, 8 and 3, and am glad we didn't watch. Oh, I am in no hurry for them to grow up. Mimi, your blog is breathtakingly-beautiful -- I love it . . . thanks for coming by!

Oh, yuck! I don't want to even see the videos. I'm disturbed just thinking about it. What were they thinking? And why did a tv network allow it for the Kids Choice Awards?

Again, yuck!

I heard about this and thought it was just sick! Parents may think it's cute but it just leads to....ICKY stuff!! hee hee

I'm glad I didn't see it...Blood probably would have squirted out of my eyes! Seriously though... That, to me, is the same as child endangerment...especially the 9 year old! Talk about setting her up for a perv! And Miley, well, just another example of "fame". They start all sweet (even if they can't sing) and they tramp it up. And for a KIDS SHOW?? The network should be fined.
Great blog MiMi! Thanks for stopping by mine!
