Good Mail!

Since bills are what's usually filling up the mail box, I was thrilled to find this waiting for me!

My friend
Jeannie know how I love sunflowers, so she made this and sent it to me. It holds a pad of sticky notes!

I ordered this card & another one from her
card store. You can see that the details are awesome!

This is the sticky note holder I ordered from her. I don't really want to use it cause then it will get messed up!

So stop by Jeannie's
blog or her card shop and tell her Mimi sent ya! (You've got to see today's post of her adorable daughter Bella saying The Pledge of Allegience)

O.K. PETA, Now I'm Mad!

Dear People at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals,

Now you have pissed me off. I try to be supportive of your wacky ways, while I enjoy my chicken sandwich. I eat meat, buy leather, and eat at KFC occasionally, but overall I supported your anti-fur campaign. I personally would not advocate throwing blood at models on catwalks to get my point across, but hey, that's just me.

But now, you are done in my book!

Photobucket

What about People for the Ethical Treatment of other People. Is this funny to you?

Really though, why am I complaining. It's not like those of us who are overweight suffer from low self esteem to begin with, right? It's not like we have just as many, if not more feelings than those animals you advocate for, right?

Are you getting lots of press for this ad, yes you are. Am I feeding into that, I guess I am, but when you start advocating for animals at the cost of actual people, I say "you suck".

F.U. PETA,

*This is not a joke, it's a real PETA ad!

Musical Monday

I heard this on the radio this morning & was immediately transported to my glory days, the magical 80's. We didn't know we looked ridiculous, we just had fun!

Whooga!

Today is going to be 83 degrees with 86% humidity. For any of you who don't know about humidity, when you walk outside it feels like you're breathing through a warm, wet sweat sock. I've never been out west, so I know nothing of the fabled dry-heat. Only miserable, soggy, wet heat.

With that being said, I live in Michigan & winter will be here in about 20 minutes, and I want these boots.

Some of My ATC's

An ATC is an artist trading card. They're fun little pieces of art that anyone can do. After my friend Joy from Joy To The Blog introduced me to Swap-bot, I got addicted. I've had a couple of people ask, so I will post a few of my ATC's here for public consumption.

I've scanned in a copy of every ATC I've made (except for the one I sent to Joy!). Some of them I'm proud of, some I'm embarassed by, but it's fun to see how I've progressed.

My very first was about me & my bi-polar/depression/anxiety disorders.

This I made for my friend Lynnette while she was going thru a tough divorce.

My first Swap-bot trade was muppet themed.

Here's a few others.

The last one I think is the prettiest one so far. My ATC's are still very simplistic, but it's fun to learn as I go. Hopefully I'll be able to get together with Joy & Diane once soon starts so they can teach me some of their mad skillz!

BTW, you should check out Diane & Joy's blogs, they both have awesome Etsy shops, tell 'em Mimi sent ya!

Billy Ray Cyrus, Wake Up!!!

**Rant**

I told a friend I would do a post about ATC's today, but it will have to wait. Let me begin by saying how greatful I am that I do not have a pre-teen daughter right now.

So Miley Cyrus does a number at the Kids Choice Awards that involved her dancing on a stripper pole. The child is 16 year old!! Her target audience is 9-12 year olds! I'm not sure that there are enough exclaimation point in my computer to express how I feel, because it only gets better.

Miley's little sister Noah, who is 9, was also videotaped, at a bar, at some party for kids and adults, dancing on stripper poles with her friends. As if that's not quite creep enough grown men are standing around watching them *sigh* I will say that really all Noah & her friends do is spin around the pole, but during the entire video you can see her looking around to alway make sure people are watching her. A 9 year old shouldn't have any idea what a stripper pole is, much less be on stage playing on one while grown men watch. This is some pedo-bears dream!

I'm not posting the videos. You can find them here on D-Listed if you're interested.

**Rant over**

Musical Monday

With the passing of John Hughes, I have been hearing lots of great 80's songs from his movies on the radio. If you were in high school in the 80's, or even junior high, you can't hear "Don't You Forget About Me" without flashing back. He picked great songs for his movies and so many of them really represent the 80's.

This song didn't get as much radio play as many others as it wasn't a theme song, butI just love it. It's I Go Crazy, by Flesh For Lulu, off of the Some Kind of Wonderful soundtrack.

I couldn't find the radio version, so skip ahead to about the 1:20 mark if you want to hear the song with out the looong intro that this version has.

For more Musical Monday go see Diane or Jori.

Dear Jon & Kate

Dear Jon & Kate,

Jon, let's start with you. It must be great to have won your balls back in the divorce, but that doesn't mean you immediately have to start a skank collection. If we're being honest here I'm not sure hanging out with "father of the year" Michael Lohan is going over too well either.

In a very short period of time you have managed to take yourself from poor-pitiful, verbally-abused by-his-wife Jon, to I-have-zero-common-sense-and-don't-care-what-my-kids-read-about-me-as-long-as-I'm-gettin'-some Jon. And to think all that time the world thought that Kate was the unstable one.

Kate, I haven't forgotten you. By a stroke of luck you managed to get most of the world to forget that you were a screaming shrew for most of the television show, since you're estranged husband is now acting like a high school senior on spring break. I haven't forgotten and your 8 mealtickets kids probably won't either.

By the way, your hair style is not the new "Rachel". You know, the whole laughing at you, not with you thing. When your hair becomes a Halloween costume, it's time to move on.

And to both of you, turn off the cameras, shut the frick up & try to get these kids through this mess you've both made of their lives!

*I have to add that this letter totally came out after reading this post by my friend Jenn at {delightfully.cliche.}

Disparate and Multifarious

Hopefully I'll be back to more regular blogging soon. School is almost out. There's a couple of poems that I wrote for my creative writing class & I'm considering posting them here, but it's hard to share stuff like that for me.

Musical Monday

Hubby & I remembered this song yesterday, played it and started dancing around like fools before church.

Here's the Dream Warriors with Wash Your Face In My Sink, some true 80's ridiculousness.

Well, ridiculous, but fun!

Yogi Ogi Icky!!

I'm sorry I haven't been around much & haven't been visiting all of your blogs. I'm in the last week of 2 accelerated online college classes & it's crunch time.

I saw this today & thought I would share. I do not want to be the only person to have to re-live this video over in my brain. It's one of those things that there just are no words for. I do know I wouldn't let my young child got to Yogi Ogi Farm.

I'm sorry & you're welcome.
