I refuse to be politically correct about pigs! Pig farmers are upset about the new virus being called the swine flu. Now we're supposed to call it the H1N1 virus instead of swine flu. Yeah, that'll happen.

I've woken up at 2:40 every day this week except for one. I can't get back to sleep after. When it's 7:45 & you've already been up for 5 hours it makes for a really looooong and goofy day!

Repurposing!

This morning I went to Bed, Bath & Beyond, which happened to be next to a Michael's, so I obviously had to go there, too!

At BB&B I bought this



Let's pray it looks good in my bathroom.

Anyway, at Michaels I found this ribbon in some dried mud in the parking lot.



At first I heard in my head the voices of my mom, my husband, etc. "Don't pick that up, it's filthy!" But I did pick it up brought it home, washed it in the sink & now I have this for a nice fall arrangement or project. It's really pretty.



That got me thinking about a couple of other things I do. You may already do them, but maybe not.

The plastic packaging with a zipper from my shower curtain will be saved for something like this.

Holiday placemats & table runners.





The big ones from comforters and such are used for seasonal quilts.

Lastly, I use the light weight paper bags for wrapping paper.



(That is my first attempt at stamping & coloring it in. Not bad, huh?)

Besides regular recycling, what do you do to repurpose everyday items?

I Need A Loan To Pay Off My Loan For My Loan

Today I heard a commercial for a "payday advance consolidation loan". In other words, if you have more than 2 outstanding payday advance's you can now get a loan to pay those off.

Is adding a loan on top of a loan really what any of us needs right now??

I made a fire last night in the rain. Hubby didn't think I'd get it going, but I did. Since it was raining I didn't sit out by it, but opened the window next to my computer so I could smell it. The sound of rain & smell of campfire was perfect!

Blogger Users HELP!

About 99% of the time when I try to create a link to something Blogger changes the info inside of the code. For instance,

[a href="validwebaddress"]text[/a] (I used [ ] instead of < >)

Blogger puts some random crap in where the web address is supposed to be. Sometimes it just adds extra crap & sometimes it replaces what I have typed.

Does anyone else have this problem with Blogger? Do you know how to fix it? Help!

My Wedding Invitation

I've mentioned my wedding inviation in the past & a couple of people have asked to see it, so here it is.



I made them with scrapbooking paper & printed the words onto vellum paper. The little flowers at the corners were all yellow, but I wanted them to pop a little more, so I colored the middles orange.

This is why I don't scrapbook. I know I would be good at it, but I would be obsessive & never do anything else. I have a certain friend *cough*Jeannie*cough* who may have this problem with stamping cards ;-D

Such a beautiful voice from a woman who they had already written off. You can see Simon's charm come out as he watches her. I can't wait to see her become a star.

Heads Will Roll

Do you see that little candy? (The one I oh so cleverly made to look like my mousepad kitty is reaching for.)

What do you think when you see that candy? If you're like me you probably think, "oh look a nice refreshing peppermint candy so my breath doesn't smell like Taco Bell."

Well you would be WRONG!

It's a cinnmon candy!! Some evil soul has made narsty cinnamon candies to look just like the beloved peppermint candy (OK, beloved may be pushing it, but I'm on a rant here, so go with me).

I don't like cinnamon candies. Now I have to go find something to wash the cinnamon flavor out of my mouth. When I find out who is responsible for this you'd better watch out!
