My Baby Is In High School!!!

I know I'm lucky.  My boy is here with me.  I have several friends who have lost children, who would be overjoyed to be where I'm at today, so please forgive me if this is insensitive.

It's just while I watch my boys grown into amazing young men, every step towards independence takes them a step further away from me in some way.  Sometimes, like now just writing about it, the tears come as I remember my little men who always wanted to snuggle with momma.  When you love with all of your heart, all of your soul, and all of your being, letting go hurts so much, even while you rejoice in their accomplishments.

Anywhoo, here are some pictures of Jack's "clap in" yesterday. The freshmen come in alone at the beginning of the day and are clapped into the big gym by parents & loved ones. The drum line plays in front of them which makes it really cool.

Jack wasn't really interested my picture taking, but he's the one with the messenger bag.

My handsome Jack.  (Yes we can usually only see one eye!)

 For today's MM song I chose possible the saddest song I know.  The first line, "She put him out like the burnin' end of a midnight cigarette", I think is pure genius & when it comes to the chorus watch out!  "He put that bottle to his head & pulled the trigger."  It gets me with goosebumps every time.

Gastroparesis On Television!

Well I never knew I could be so excited about someone talking about a chronic illness, but since it's one of my chronic illnesses I wanted to share it with you.  The Today Show featured a 14 year old girl who suffers from gastroparesis, the same condition I have.  Her's is more severe than mine, I only needed a feeding tube for about a  month.

Also she still has an appetite, which I do not.  I have not felt one twinge of hunger since October & may never feel it again.  Now that seems like a good thing to me as I can't imagine the hell of feeling hungry 24/7, but not being able keep in any food.

I think there is a commercial before you can see the piece, but it is really informative about GP.

It was so bizarre watching this clip, it made me cry.  It feels like some kind of validation that yes I am seriously ill and there are others out there who suffer from the same thing.

My doctors are not currently considering a pacemaker for me as I'm able to keep enough food down to maintain my weight for now.  It's mostly smoothies & ice cream, but I miss steamed veggies!

Secret Shame

I'm not proud to admit it, but I follow a site that is nothing but pure gossipy, trashy goodness. It's not Perez Hilton, I've grown bored with him.

Out of sheer embarassment, I'm not telling you the name of this site, but here are just a couple of gems that I found there the other day.

First is this amazing picture of Rick Springfield. The hair, the sweater with the lightning bolt, priceless.



I was lucky enough to get to meet him backstage a couple of years ago & he looks great and has much better hair now! My high school girlfriends & I had a blast & Rick looked great after playing a long and super energetic show.



This was something else I found on the same site, with the following caption.

How can you not love a source for things like this?
