Our Sunday Pork-O-Rama

My younger son Jack LOVES bacon. All of us are pretty fond of pork breakfast products.

A while ago I found a recipe of sorts online for a bacon cheese log. Jack has been begging me to make one ever since. Since I couldn't leave well enough alone, and because I didn't know if the bacon cheese log would be tasty or disgusting, I also made sausage balls. I got the sausage ball recipe from my friend Alicia at
Confessions of a Snowflake.

The first step in the bacon cheese log is the weaving of the bacon.

Jack sending his bacon-y goodness into the oven. (Those are his pj's, not a bad fashion statement)

This is how it looked after we cooked it in the oven.

Add the layer of cheesy goodness,

A boy and his bacon. Our bacon was too crispy so if folded instead of rolling.

Ahh, at last we can sit down & enjoy our porky feast!

OMG that sounds so darned good - but of course we can't actually HAVE bacon ........ yeah right I'm quite sure this will find a way into my oven/onto my table.

This is a first for me. I have never in my life seen woven bacon before. Who knew. We love bacon and pork around here too.
Yum,

Fortunately Nufnuf and Tumtum have no internet connection yet. They would have a fit!
Brinkbeest is a nickname, given to me by an English teacher many moons ago. My actual last name is Brinkman, which means something like 'man of the village square' (I like to think that we had very important forfathers to be given that name, or maybe one of them was the village idiot who resided in the village square, but I prefer the first option ;-)).
And 'beest' means beast. I really don't know why he thought that made a fitting nickname, because I was a very well-behaved girl in school. No really. But I couldn't think of another name for my blog because all the really funny and well thought out names were already taken.
